About the Role
As a Media Technician within the Entertainment department, you are responsible for operating, maintaining, and managing all shipboard audiovisual equipment—including projectors, LED walls, media servers, and correlating IT networks—to deliver high-quality entertainment programs and live events under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor.
Area of responsibility
The position holder is responsible operating, maintaining, and managing all audiovisual equipment, including projectors, LED walls, media servers, correlating IT networks and other technical devices to support events and the entertainment program under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor.
The Company expects each shipboard employee to consistently exemplify the shipowner product philosophy principles to all team members. Furthermore, all duties and responsibilities must be performed as per ISM/ISO and SQM standards, USPH guidelines, and environmental, hygiene, and safety policies.
Every crew member can be required to perform all functions in the various service areas throughout the ship.
For every crew member, the fulfillment of host duties towards passengers ("Side Duties") is part of the scope of their duties. This includes, in particular, but not exclusively, guest guiding or greeting at events such as theater admission, embarkation days, tender operations, passport controls, public holidays etc.
All employees must behave politely and professionally at all times. This applies to the physical and verbal contact with guests or colleagues and all areas in which contact with guests and crew members occurs.
Scope of duties
Operating and monitoring all audiovisual equipment, including projectors, LED walls, lighting, and sound systems, during live performances, events, and presentations.
Maintaining an inventory of all audiovisual equipment and accessories and reporting the need for spare parts or new equipment to the Technical Supervisor.
Servicing all media equipment according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Troubleshooting technical issues during events and promptly repairing or replacing equipment as needed in collaboration with the Technical Supervisor.
Setting up and dismantling audiovisual equipment as required and according to schedule.
Configuring and managing media servers to handle media content for various events and shows.
Assisting with the setup and conduct of rehearsals and technical rehearsals for shows and events.
Adhering to safety standards and regulations for the use of audiovisual equipment and facilities.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in managing content and ensuring smooth operation of video-on-demand systems for guests and crew.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in controlling and providing broadcasts to on-board TV and public screens.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in posting content created by the Media Coordinator in Arena Charts as well as digital theater and lounge posters, including verifying correct transfer to public screens.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in providing technical support for the content of public screens.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in setting up, playing, and managing background music playlists across all guest areas in compliance with content requirements.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in checking and correcting time settings on all applicable systems when changing time zones.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in updating the route map for each cruise.
Supporting the Broadcast Technician in the technical support, maintenance, and repair of atmosphere wristbands, as well as adjusting playlists as needed.
Creating or updating handover documentation for replacements and providing a detailed introduction of the successor to the work area.
Creating and updating inventory lists.
Ensuring that equipment is stored securely in a locked area after use.
Reporting defects to the supervisor, carrying out structured error analysis, and determining required repair work with supervisors and shore-side technical management (without unauthorized modifications to electrical/electronic components).
Collaborating with the supervisor to order expendable and replacement materials.
Cooperating and providing mutual support within the entertainment technical team, especially with the Broadcast Technician, as well as temporarily supporting operational daily tasks of other technical roles as needed.
Implementing company operational and guest experience philosophies.
Attending team meetings and integrating into the team as a whole.
Assuming guest host duties (such as guest guiding or greeting at events, theater admissions, embarkation days, tender operations, passport controls, and public holidays) in line with established rules.
Knowing assigned emergency safety numbers and carrying out associated safety duties as specified by ship statutes.
Complying with all on-board regulations.
Assuming additional duties during handover, shipyard lay-up periods, and cast changes.
Treating corporate information as strictly confidential, including during and after the contract period.
Qualification/Work Experience
Completed training or degree in media technology, event technology, or a related technical field.
Experience in operating and maintaining audiovisual equipment, especially projectors, LED walls, and lighting and sound systems.
Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing technical issues related to audiovisual systems.
Experience with media servers (preferably Christie Pandoras Box) and digital media content.
Good network and video server skills (advantageous).
Experience with professional video and broadcast technology (advantageous).
Very good knowledge of spoken and written English (mandatory).
Basic knowledge in the use of PC Office Software (Microsoft 365).
