About the Role

As a member of the Entertainment Stage team, you will be setting up equipment including stage set used for different production shows and assist with the running of the production shows in the main show lounge, you will be also working backstage at night, taking an active part in the production shows and the first point of contact. You will be assisting with the delivery of the production shows in the main show lounge as well as building and striking sets before and after the show.

Area of responsibility

  • To deliver the technical side of the entertainment package to an exceptionally high standard.

  • To set-up sound and lighting systems as directed while coordinating with other team members to ensure a complete and seamless production of the events on board on rotation with other technical team members

  • To create and enhance the guest experience on board making sure all events are delivered at the highest standard possible.

  • To ensure events in the theatre start on time and all requirements are met.

  • To follow the Stage managers instructions and work schedules and ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with all current safety and company regulations.

  • To complete accurate maintenance and equipment records and comply with the cleaning and maintenance schedule for the department.

  • To ensure that the stage set is stored correctly and avoid any damaged where possible.

  • To ensure technical standards, product and your professional behaviour is at the highest level of the company.

  • To assist with the staging aspects of a performance as directed.

  • To ensure your appearance and grooming guidelines are always maintained.

  • To uphold the standards set out in your training.

  • A position of onboard responsibility will be held with regards to emergency procedures, guest mustering and drills (full training received on board).

Scope of duties 

  • Reporting to the Stage Manager, the Stage Technician will support the Entertainment Technical Team in delivering the stage related technical aspects of the entertainment programme in the forward theatre on board to the highest industry standards. Led by the Stage Manager, the Entertainment Technical Team consists of 4 (Sound, Lighting, Stage Technician and a Stage Manager). The Entertainment Technical Team is part of the Entertainment Department, which also includes a cast of 14. The Entertainment department is directed and coordinated by the onboard Cruise Director.

  • As a member of the Entertainment Stage team, you will be setting up equipment including stage set used for different production shows and assist with the running of the production shows in the main show lounge, you will be also working backstage at night, taking an active part in the production shows and the first point of contact. You will be assisting with the delivery of the production shows in the main show lounge as well as building and striking sets before and after the show.

  • You will be responsible, together with the technical team, for the set-up and strike of the theatre sets. You will also be required to learn the basics of audio & lighting to allow rotation of other events outside of main production shows.. You will be also responsible for the maintenance and resolution of any technical issues in the venue with assistance from Head Technician on-board if required.

  • As a member of the Entertainment Department, a position of responsibility will be held with regards to emergency procedures, guest mustering and drills; specific training will be received regarding this, both prior to joining and regularly on board.

Qualification/Work Experience

  • The Stage Crew should have at least 2 years of relevant industry qualifications in sound, lighting or stage management or equivalent or relevant work experience.

  • Operational and set-up knowledge of Audio Visual equipment is preferred.

  • Experience of working in mid-size/large venues on a variety of entertainment programmes i.e. concert, theatre and individual acts is desirable.

  • The Stage Crew must have good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures within the production environment.
