About the Role
As a River Cruises Restaurant Waiter, you'll be at the heart of our guests' culinary journey, providing exceptional dining experiences as they sail along picturesque waterways. You'll be responsible for delivering professional and friendly service, ensuring every meal is a highlight of their cruise. Area of responsibility
Friendly and competent guest service according to Company standards.
Communication with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve any complaints.
Taking guests orders for food and drinks in the Restaurant, Bar or Sundeck.
Serving food and drinks in all departments on the ship (Restaurant, Bar, Room service, Sundeck) in a professional way.
Knowledge of the menu and all drinks, including wines in compliance to Company standard as well as the allergies and any other food sensitivity.
Silver-tongued, professional and well-groomed appearance.
Manage a Restaurant station of 45 to 50 guests, together with another Waiter/ Waitress or Barkeeper.
Scope of duties
Active sales of drinks in the Restaurant and Bar, including the Sundeck.
Wine knowledge, bringing wine selections to the guests and pouring drinks for them.
Providing general guest service, making sure they are enjoying their meals.
Setup of tables according to company standards as well as polish cutlery and glasses.
Assistance with the preparation of inventories General cleaning work in the Restaurant and Bar.
Weekly general cleaning of the Restaurant and Bar.
Adherence to cleanliness and hygienic regulations in compliance with HACCP regulation and company standards.
Careful handling of all foodstuffs, inventory and Restaurant equipment
(glass, cutlery, porcelain, etc.).
Compliance with the waste concept.
Knowledge of the ship and the respective daily program.
Fair and equal treatment towards all crew.
During embarkation welcome guests, escort guests to the cabin, explain cabin/ suite, luggage service.
Assistance in the Housekeeping during guest exchange (making beds, restock the minibar, etc.) or with any additional tasks.
Qualification/Work Experience
Experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous river cruise ship experience.
Outstanding skills and experience in this role with strong customer focus.
Effective communication and active listening skills for a good communication with guests.
Stress resistant, calm under pressure, resilient, team player with positive approach.
Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies.
Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness.
Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages as German is an advantage.
Professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard-working with great team spirit.
Organisational skills and attention to details.
Reliability and physical stamina to stand for long period of time.
